Top Offenses Targets and TDs

This week I take a glance at the top offenses that I am anticipating for the upcoming 2020 Fantasy Football season. We can review previous years offenses and incorporate off-season changes in anticipating which offenses are going to be successful in 2020. The reason I do this is because I would lean towards drafting a player on a more offensive team versus not, if other variables are the same. In high offensive teams, you have the ability to still get fantasy football production from the second running back or the third wide receiver if you need. For less offensive teams I usually stick to their top players if I do draft from those teams. Offense leads to points and points lead to fantasy football success. While the better the offense the more likely the player to get more Targets and Touchdowns!

To get an idea of the best offenses I look at Points per Game Averages. Below you will see the past 5 years of Top 15 Offenses each year.

Offenses – Points per Game Average

I was looking from year to year to see how many of the previous years Offenses made the Top 10 Offenses – Points Per Game Average list the next year. As you follow the colors (Blue – 2015, Orange – 2016, Green – 2017 and Red – 2018) it helps to pick out who made the Top 10 Offenses – Points Per Game Average list the next year. In 2016, 3 offenses made the Top 10 again from 2015. 2 offenses from 2016 made the Top 10 list in 2017. In 2018, 5 offenses from 2017 made the Top 10. While in 2019, 4 offenses from 2018 made the Top 10.

Take note the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots are the only teams to make all 5 years lists! While the Kansas City Chiefs made the Top 10 in 4 of the 5 years. Also note, even as teams drop out of the Top 10 from a previous year, a couple still find themselves in the top 15 of offenses that year.

Taking into account the consistency of some offenses and the possibility of others improving. I came up with my anticipated Top 15 Offenses for 2020 below:

2020 Top 15 Offense Favorites

  1. Kansas City Chiefs
  2. New Orleans Saints
  3. Baltimore Ravens
  4. San Francisco 49ers
  5. Atlanta Falcons
  6. Pittsburgh Steelers
  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  8. Arizona Cardinals
  9. Los Angeles Rams
  10. Philadelphia Eagles
  11. Los Angeles Chargers
  12. Seattle Seahawks
  13. Dallas Cowboys
  14. New England Patriots
  15. Carolina Panthers

Top Offenses Final Thoughts

It can be tough to predict which players will be getting Targets and Touchdowns each year. So by starting with the Offenses the players are on as a base for yearly production can be helpful. It may be wise to have these team names at the ready. If you believe a player is set to be in a Top 10 Offense then the opportunity for many Targets & Touchdowns this season could be favorable and you know I would be interested in them!
