Super Bowl LV Targets and TDs Fantasy Football

We have completed the Conference Championship Round of the 2020 Fantasy Football & NFL postseason! Which means we are onto Super Bowl LV! Live on CBS All Access! The pinnacle of the NFL football season! With most season long fantasy football leagues complete, there are still daily and playoff leagues that are happening to feed our fantasy football appetite.

The final game of the playoffs, happening in Super Bowl LV is the Kansas City Chiefs at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I think most fans would have thought the Chiefs would get back to the big game. The Buccaneers were more a best case scenario for the transition of Tom Brady from New England to Tampa Bay. They were certainly working through things during the season but here they are 1 of 2 teams left standing. Remember, my favorite players usually are on teams that have a Top Offense that can produce lots of Targets and Touchdowns! Let’s review who they are below in this game.

Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Starters – Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce (KC). Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette (TB).

Upside Plays – Mecole Hardman, Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson (KC). Tom Brady, Cameron Brate, Scotty Miller, Antonio Brown (TB).

Sleepers – Darrel Williams, Chiefs D/ST, Clyde Edwards-Helaire (KC). Buccaneers D/ST, Ronald Jones II , Rob Gronkowski (TB).

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs can certainly look to their meeting earlier this year and get Tyreek Hill (3rd in Touchdowns for the 2020 regular season) going early and often. I don’t anticipate the Buccaneers D/ST to allow Hill to take over as much as he did in the previous meeting (but that is part of the fun of this second matchup). Hill and Kelce both in the Top 12 of most Targets for players in 2020, will get theirs in this Super Bowl. I do think the game will allow for at least one other Kansas City WR to shine in similar fashion as Cam Sims, Tre’Quan Smith and most recently Marquez Valdes-Scantling did versus the Buccaneers this playoff season. Mecole Hardman, Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson would be the beneficiaries here in that order.

I do believe that a couple pieces of the Chiefs offensive line not being there for this one will play a part. I imagine Darrel Williams continues some tough running and will probably fare slightly better than the rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The game overall reminds me of the Chiefs at Dolphins matchup earlier this year with 4 turnovers for the team and 3 interceptions from Mahomes. It looks bad, makes it tough, but at the end of the day the Chiefs found a way to win. With all the love for the recently peaking Buccaneers D/ST I feel like the Chiefs D/ST won’t have to do a lot (as expectations are so low) but seeing them make some key plays could be crucial to securing the Chiefs Super Bowl LV victory this year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers will again look to their defense to continue making plays this postseason and get the team some turnovers. While trusting in Brady to lead the offense down the field to maximize points with their possessions. Tampa Bay has very dangerous weapons and should be able to put up points with the best of them. Although, will Tampa Bay run more to limit the number of opportunities for Mahomes?, quite possibly. I think Leonard Fournette will continue his great postseason run and Ronald Jones II could well hold some value here too. The Chiefs have been susceptible to the TE this postseason and through the regular season. It feels like Brate has been more consistent through the postseason but Gronkowksi has to get looks too (right?!) with Brady at QB in the Super Bowl!

The Buccaneers WR’s are some great studs, so Mike Evans (Top 5 in Touchdowns through the 2020 regular season) and Chris Godwin (averaging 7 Targets through the 2020 regular season) should be in the mix as well. Just a heads up, of all areas defenses are graded, the Chiefs D/ST have ben most successful against WR’s. Brady will have to be on his game (as he usually is) but the 3 interceptions he threw against the Packers won’t result in a W against this Chiefs team.

Chiefs at Bucs – Final Word

This is shaping up to be a fun one and quite a way to end a very different 2020 NFL and Fantasy Football season! My gut still tells me the Chiefs find a way with all their weapons to win Super Bowl LV. Would I be surprised if Tampa Bay creates issues for Mahomes (injuries at their offensive line) and does just enough to win?! (shades of New York Giants vs New England Patriots!) Not at all! These are professional athletes and anything could happen out on that field on Sunday. Will be fun to see which side gets the better of the other this week! Enjoy the game and catch it on CBS All Access this Sunday!
