2023 NFL Schedule
4 min read
The 2023 NFL Draft is complete (certainly check out my 2023 Post NFL Draft piece if you haven’t yet) and now the 2023 NFL Schedule has been released!! If you missed it, take a look at it 2023 NFL Schedule. Another layer or wrinkle has been added as we slowly approach the beginning of the 2023 Fantasy Football Season.
I use strength of schedule for a player as a way to decide on selecting a player after accessing their Ability, Availability, Opportunity and Consistency. It’s certainly not an initial deciding factor if I select a player to my fantasy football team but can be helpful. Plus, it was just released this week and gives those NFL/Fantasy Football conversations a little more groundwork.
Teams with a favorable start to 2023
Just like the NFL, it is great to jump out to a good start in your Fantasy Football Season. You probably can still recover more often (than NFL teams) if you don’t, but a good start is preferred. Below are a few teams that I noticed have some nice/preferred matchups as they start the 2023 NFL season.
- Carolina Panthers – ATL, NO, SEA, MIN, DET, MIA
- Green Bay Packers – CHI, ATL, NO, DET, LV, BYE
- Kansas City Chiefs – DET, JAX, CHI, NYJ, MIN, DEN
- Detroit Lions – KC, SEA, ATL, GB, CAR, TB
- Los Angeles Chargers – MIA, TEN, MIN, LV, BYE, DAL
- Jacksonville Jaguars – IND, KC, HOU, ATL, BUF, IND

- Indianapolis Colts – JAX, HOU, BAL, LAR, TEN, JAX
- New York Giants – DAL, ARI, SF, SEA, MIA, BUF
Week 1 Favorable Matchups
If you need a good spot start in Week 1 of 2023, I believe the below 4 teams will fit that bill:
- Baltimore Ravens – HOU
- Washington Commanders – ARI
- Los Angeles Rams – SEA
- Tennessee Titans – NO
To come up with the above summary I used the information below in regard to teams who have given up the most points last season (along with 4 more years of history). On the 5-year history I was able to highlight the teams on the list that were from the previous year’s list as well. Some teams stay on for a few years as you will see 🙂

- Chicago Bears
- Arizona Cardinals
- Detroit Lions
- Indianapolis Colts
- Minnesota Vikings
- Houston Texans
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Seattle Seahawks

- Atlanta Falcons
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Los Angeles Rams

Teams likely to Give Up the Most Points in the 2023 NFL Season
Just a quick snapshot of who I anticipate team wise to give up the most points through the 2023 season. I certainly referenced the history above and mixed in some teams that may not be as strong as they were last year in regard to allowing points.
- Detroit Lions
- Minnesota Vikings
- Houston Texans
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Arizona Cardinals
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Chicago Bears
- Carolina Panthers
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Tennessee Titans
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Teams Bye Weeks
Along with finding some good matchups please keep in mind when your fantasy football players have their bye week. You don’t need to necessarily draft with your bye week replacement on your team but be aware of when your starters are going to have their bye weeks during the season. You can plan to pick up a week replacement ahead of time (a week or two if able) so please keep the bye weeks in mind as you go through your 2023 Fantasy Football Season.
Bye Week | Teams |
---|---|
5 | Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
6 | Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers |
7 | Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans |
9 | Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers |
10 | Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles |
11 | Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints |
13 | Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, |
14 | Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders |
Always keep in mind where the Bye Week lands especially as you get multiple players at the same position. Again not a determining factor of who to select but something to be aware of. |
2023 NFL Schedule Final Thoughts
Now that the 2023 NFL Schedule is out, we have a framework set for the NFL and Fantasy Football matchups to anticipate this upcoming year. Certainly, consider this as you create your 2023 Fantasy Football teams but don’t forget to consider Ability, Availability, Opportunity and Consistency before their Advantage/Upside – Matchup against a particular team.
